May 29, 2022 - June 2, 2022

Location:

  • East London, South Africa

Dates:

    • 29th May – 12th June 2022
    • 19th June – 2nd July 2022

The annual migration of the Sardines up the South African East Coast known as the Sardine Run is one of the most spectacular natural events that you could ever witness. During the migration the Sardines follow a route much closer to shore with a variety of predators ready to feast.

Pods of Common Dolphins, Brydes Whales, Humpback Whales, Bottle nose Dolphins, Dusky sharks, Copper sharks, Bull sharks, Black tip sharks, Ragged tooth sharks, Cape fur seals, even Sail fish.

The Sardine migration normally starts around Port Elizabeth and East London before it moves north towards Port St Johns on the Wild Coast.

You will go out to Sea daily with the goal of finding baitballs, and on slow days you will still encounter dolphins, Humpback Whales and sharks.

The Sardine run can be unpredictable however the payoff is undescribable.
